Can I extend filing my taxes past October 15?

Updated for filing 2021 tax returns

No; you can’t extend your tax deadline past the extended deadline (usually October 15—see this year's deadline here). Once that date has past, failure-to-file penalties will begin to add up until you file your tax return.

If the extended deadline passes and you still haven't filed, 1040.com will not be able to process your return. You'll have to file your taxes on paper or through a professional.

Don't delay if you can help it! To file your taxes with 1040.com, sign up or sign in.
